Tim Melly focuses on helping investors achieve a more consistent and smoother long-term investment experience by developing and managing systematic strategies that leverage both traditional and alternative asset classes. Prior to joining Dakota, Tim served as Vice President of Research at Persimmon Capital Management, which was acquired by Dakota in July 2021.
As Senior Portfolio Manager, Tim manages the firm’s 40 Act mutual fund (LSEIX), a fund of hedge funds portfolio, and bespoke portfolios for select clients. He is also a member of Dakota’s Investment Committee, contributing his insights on the areas of external manager due diligence, portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk monitoring.
Tim is one of the founders of Blue Wave Global Investors, LP, a quantitative long/short equity hedge fund. He also served as a consultant to FinTech start-up AlphaHedge Capital Partners, developing the quantitative tools to evaluate prospective managers and risk monitoring solutions. Prior to Persimmon, he served as Director of Research at a multi-family office where he developed risk-based portfolios and was responsible for manager due diligence.
Tim is a graduate of Drexel University, where he received two bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Economics. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation issued by the CFA Institute.
